The SRS system is a microprocessor-controlled logic system. Whenever the voltage in a computer system drops below a value necessary to support computer logic functions, the program can no longer function properly.
In theory, the problem that you are asking about could arise because the voltage in the SRS was too low to allow the logic circuit to function properly and some spurious fault code was generated. (i.e., yes to your question - in theory, because I don't know the circuit or logic levels of the SRS.)
You didn't say what the code read was, but regardless, if it were mine, I would have it reset (provided you've repaired the charging circuit) and see if it trips again and the same code is generated.
If the radio dial is reading for code input and displaying input, I have no idea why it should not reset if the procedure is followed properly.
Good luck and please repost your results to help the BB community,
SteveB
