I just bought a new, unopened CD 635 from a parts board advertiser here on saabnet and put it in my 97 CS this weekend. If you have a factory Clarion head unit that has a "Source" button in the upper right corner of the radio, then your CS/CSE should be prewired for this changer.
Remove the four screws on the metal trim on the rear most edge of the trunk, remove (with a small screwdriver) the two plastic buttons by the left taillight and then pull the black felt trunk liner away from the left fender. Reach around behind your radio antennae and you should find the black cable/wire from the radio to the CD changer, its a round plug with a 9 pin or so connection. Feed it though the hole in the trunk liner and connect to the changer. That is all you need to do.
Crutchfield is expensive, I got my changer from Family Motors in Sonoma, advertised on the parts board for $125 plus $14 shipping and insurance, got here (NY) in two days. The dealer stocked them for installs on used 9000s; he doesn't see many 9000s these days so he was selling off a half dozen of new CD 635 units that were in his shop. As Martha would say, its a good thing.
Call Bob Iverson at Family Motors at (707) 996-4185 and see if he has any left. If you have a non stock head unit or already bought the changer and you don't get a the cable, I got an extra cable in the box with the unit, give me your e mail address and I'll send it to you.
By the way, the unit is great - no skips!
