Hi,
First of all, I'd like to say that it is nice to see some familiar names on this board from when I used to read and post about a year ago. I own a 91 9000s 5-speed which I unfortunately crashed back in January. The car has been sitting in my driveway ever since and I stopped visiting this great site. I rear ended a Civic at 15 mph. The damage done to the car is as follows: both headlights damaged, grill damaged, both sidemarker lights popped out, hood is buckled up, right fender is making contact with passenger door(causing the door to be unable to open more than a few inches). Also, when I hit the other car, I slammed on the brakes hard causing my car to nose-dive into the ground. All the engine oil leaked out of the car on the scene. I'm guessing i hit the oil pan on the ground or something, I am not sure. I am asking you guys for your advice because I do not know what I should do with the car. The engine has 153,000 miles on it and was running strong. Being that this was my first car, it hold some sentimental value to me. Besides, I spent alot of money into that car to have it just sit in my driveway now. My father has a friend who owns an autobody shop. He has looked at the car and said the damage is definatly reparable and should cost no more than 600-700 dollars. However, I'm not sure if he really knows how expensive some small insiginificant things like Saab Side marker lights can be. If the total cost of repair to make the car roadworthy is under $1000 I would definatly consider bringing my baby back to life. Otherwise, if there is a demand for selling it as a parts car, I would like to know how much is a fair asking price. Oh, by the way, the car I am driving now is a 93 Infinity J30t. THe engine (same one in a nissan 300zx) has plenty of muscle, but I sure miss driving my Saab. Sorry for the long post. Thanks for your help guys.
