bnroken or just not breathing any mpore if the car is other wise in good condition why not buy a used engine and stuff it in cheaper than rebuilding unlress you do it your self. I rebuilt my 2.0 lit on 900 (same engine) for 900 in parts. Every thing that reciprocated, all seals and gaskets had shaft turned and changed pumps and chains- at 325,000 miles. it lasted another 200,000 miles until I sold it to a college kid. he managed to destroy it in 25,000 miles. so what ever - a used engine will probably cost you 1500-2000 in great shape complete. dirt simple to remove and install
