I have often found Jiffy Lube incapable of performing the basic service of changing the oil while simultaneously trying to sell me mysterious services with promises of great hope. I have resisted these temptations, though not without a tinge of regret and anxiety that I am passing up on the one thing that will finally bring me unity with my car.

However, this service that you have been offered surpasses in mystery even the unique opportunities I have declined over the years. $50 to drain the engine? I am wondering how they were not already draining your engine. How did they get the old oil out, before adding new? Or is that a separate item on their services menu. Or is it $50 to actually let all the oil drain out before they stick the drain plug back in?

On the other hand, cleaning the oil pan for $50 is quite the deal considering the hours of labor required to get it free of the bottom of the motor. I would snap that offer up, if it was made by someone who could do the job. Actually, thinking about it, I would pass on that offer no matter who made it since it is so incredibly unfair.

I thought the 2.0L motor only took 4 quarts. If the motor takes more, and they only got enough oil out to fill with 4 quarts, it's probably because they didn't let the oil drain long enough. Also, there has been some disagreement here about how much oil beyond 4 quarts the 2.3L motor takes. I imagine the same applies to the 2.0L.
