Hi Guys,
Having for a long time trouble with idling.
Short story:
Car- 9000CS, 2.3L, non-turbo, non-TCS, 1993, auto, 165000km, Trionic engine management system.
Problem: when idling with no load - A/C off, transmission is in 'P' - RPM is OK - close to 1000, but as soon selected 'D' in transmission or A/C turned on, idle drops down sometimes almost to stall. Things getting worst when engine is hot, after a long trip. While driving everything is fine, waiting on traffic lights - no problem.
'Check engine' light - goes off sometimes, with no obvious pattern. It can stay on for entire trip to work, or can go away at a highway speeds. Have to admit that more often the light goes away on a highway, but almost always on when starting. One more thing - no flashing codes.
What I did so far - IAC valve completely cleaned up with throttle/carburetor cleaning spray. Visually inspected all vacuum lines. Read all BB archives for similar topics.
Only two thing coming up to my mind:
1. IAC valve defective itself.
2. Q2 censor.
I'm illuminating A/C compressor because the same idle drop happens with A/C - off, but selecting 'D' or 'R' in the tranny. DI Cassette replaced 40K ago.
Your advises highly appreciated,
Thanks in advance,
Vlad.
