I was at a red light not too long ago and a new Lexus ES 300 drove thru
and while I was not really checking it out its silhouette caused me to
look again----lo and behold when i got home and looked back at my '98
CSE i realized that the lines (raked front end and slightly larger/higher rear end) looks almost like a 9000....

So many things seem to be coming to mind on the "newer" cars that equal to Saabs in the past; which furthers the argument that perhaps Saab was ahead of its time in looks, function and performance....so much that now they are
going "mainstream" while others are venturing into the market of 'Saab'.

Benz makes a Hatchback
hyundai makes a four door hatch that resembles Saabs thus opening the appearance of higher end cars (the new tiburon comes to mind as well)
BMW putting more time into a base H/B below the 3series
the 7 series as mentioned by TKC
GM making their large sedan to appear similar to that shape (could think of their own) AND make it front wheel drive
WHICH brings on my thoughts of why Pontiac is to get the new SOlstice when
it could have been slightly redsigned to make it a new Sonnett/Sport
to which Saab could venture into the small sports car like the 'Z' was brought back-

*sigh!*
