Main difs between Clarion and Harman/Kardon systems??

I am hoping that someone on this board could help me better understand the main differences between the Clarion, Harman/Kardon, and aftermarket (e.g. JVC; Kenwood; Alpine; Pioneer) radio systems by answering some questions I have about these systems.
1) Obviously, the hardware for the Harman/Kardon radio system would produce a better sound then the Clarion. But does the Harmon/Kardon have additional hardware to do this like additional amps? Or, does it just have a better amp mounted under the passenger seat and as well as in the radio unit itself?
2) The harman/kardon system has 10 speakers? Where are they located? 4 in the front and 6 in the back? Or, are 2 speakers located somewhere in the middle of the car?
3) What would give a cleaner sound in a 9000? The harman/kardon system as it has factored in the electrical noise from the ignition system as well as the braking system. Or, purchasing a good quality after market unit would be just as good?
TIA guys.
