that the pump is probably bad. Mine did not start once due to high tank vacuum after a long drive from 1/2 to empty ('95 CS). Apparently teh vent system clogged somehow and did not vent as the level dropped. I opened the gas cap to equalize pressure and it started right up, though. The pump cost on one of these is highly dependent on your ability. The replacement pump is <100.00 Probably closer to 70.00 from many sources including sponsors and NAPA. The pump basket/assembly/level sender is quite pricey, though. It is a job, but not that bad. I have done it twice. Disassemble basket, extract walbro pump, cut off fitting leaving barb in hard plastic line, new pump is connected to remanants of rigid line (with barb inside)with a very short piece of rubber high pressure hose and 2 small hose clamps. Keep the rubber support bits IN gasoline while you do the rest of the job as they will quickly dry up and be less likely to stretch around the bits again upon reassembly.
