...Here goes...
I have just "authorised":
- replacement of leaking front offside strut (£178 plus £105 fitting)
- replacement of rear trailing arm bushes (£96.40 plus £56 fitting)
- replacement of outer CV gaitors (£103 for two kits plus £154 fitting)
- replacement of front wishbone end caps (£15 the pair pls £35 fitting)
- replacement of water pump (£91 the pair plus £105 fitting)
- replacement of cam cover gasket (under warranty)
I am also having the Abbott stuff fitted that I ordered (butterfly bushes, front and rear roll bar bushes, ITG filter)
I haven't done the maths yet, but I suspect around £1200...which will mean over £2000 in maintenance in 12 months...
OK, so I could have done most, if not all things at home and saved a hell of a lot of labour, but I simply do not have the time.
I have also been informed that the battery is on the way out (I knew that anyway...), and they have spotted my light out in the rear door window switch, and the lens missing on the rear c-pillar courtesy light, so they are certainly thorough...!! I will also need two new front tyres very soon (although I am EXTREMELY pleased with the 16k miles and 12 months I have got out of my Pirelli P6000s this year - a record for me - all motorway driving).
Looks like I will be running this car a little longer than I anticipated. The majority on this board seem to do all maintenance themselves, so I am sure you will be interested to see the prices that a typical UK dealer charge for the weekends you spend covered in oil with grazed knuckles.
Anything surprise you out of the list above?
Zip, nursing his wallet.
