I've got a '95 CSE and Aero. Neither seat folds down very well. When you do need it flat, compressing the seats puts crinkles in the leather. Pretty equal with both cars.

Annie, get a grip! These are GREAT junk haulers! I amaze folks at the amount of junk I can haul on a fishing trip, or family trip, or trip to the dump. The versatility is one of the great advantages of the hatch. Revel in it.

I do think the Aero seats are more comfortable that the CSE for long trips. My '87 9000 was more comfortable than both....

I'll go with Ari's thoughts on CSE vs Aero. The Aero IS more kick and bang for the buck. The handling is a bit better, accel noticably better, and looks a bit better. The rest is a pretty close wash. The zip of the CSE is good enough to give me a thrill, and a couple of speeding tickets. On the road, ie interstate, no difference.

I think the cars are really close in performance and interior quality. Would definitely buy the car that has been better cared for. And would always have a very good Saab-specialist mechanic check it out before buying.

I would also vote for the '95 and later 9000s. I've heard that the earlier balance shafts were more likely to wear and need replacement at the rate of a couple of grand. Think this was mostly '92 and '93, but may have carried into the '94.

Do expect to drop a couple of grand into the car the first year you buy it. There is usually a reason someone is planning on upgrading. If you don't spend it, keep it in the bank. This level of expense is always a possibility. Fortunately not common for me, but possible....
