Looking it up, I probably meant ignition switch. These are known to have intermittant contact problems when ageing.
Apart from that and the relay, there is not much that can go wrong whenthe starter solenoid and battery are ok.
that is, i just saw it's an auto. that means you got one more point of possible failure: the starter interlock at your selctor lever.
I gave up getting on top of what was when on which Saab 9k. Especially in Europe, these cars seem to be very much 'a la carte'. Something like the US axiom 'CSE = turbo' I see regularly on this board does not hold true for Europe.
However, I still remember the owner's manual of my late '92 saying that the CD model only came with the 2.3L engine. that struck me because I had a 2.0L engine ( and the very odd combination of ACC, cruise and manually controlled windows!). It just might be true for the US.
The DI will not prevent the engine from turning over. Symptoms of imminent DI failure are almost always hesitation/ misfire at acceleration.
If the trans is shifting smoothly, it sounds like a good deal to me. In the US these cars tend to be much cheaper from what I see on this board.
Be sure you like the autobox in combination with a non-turbo, though. I drove a 9-3 2.0 auto for a while, and I think that car is dangerously slow in overtake acceleration. the 2.3 should be different, but try it first!
Good luck,
Jan geert
