Tony, yes you could, but with all the effort involved, it would be false economy not to change the chain too, for the little extra that it costs. Consider that the first chain failed at 70K miles and the current one has already done 86K miles. Personally, I would expect the chain to last longer than that, but in the light of your experience, it would be safer if you were to consider the life of a timing chain to be around 70K miles.
