I have a 1992 Saab 9000 turbo auto and a 1995 BMW m3 5sp. From a visual perspective each car looks very similar and sporty. When I first got my Saab I was impressed with all the gadgets and doodads assocatiated with it. Felt like I was in a cockpit of touring plane. The BMW cockpit very simple, snug and comfortable but without all the amenities. The Saab is great in the snow. The BMW is horrid when there is any accumalation of moisture on the road. The Saab has decent accelleration. With an auto you must start from Gear 1, switch 2, then 3 to D to get a good launch. I've raced a modded Acura Integra (exhaust, cold air intake). Virtual dead tie.
Accelleration is okay but it needs some mods to be a screamer. m3 just plain whoops ASS. Accelleration is phenomenal, but I have chip, and cold air intake. The handling of the Saab is okay. Above avg for its class but the m3 is just in a category all by itself. Saab definitely needs a suspension up grade to compare in m3 league.
So all in all Saab 9000 turbo has the looks, nice doo dads and gadgets, Nice accelleration but defintiely needs mods (chip, exhaust, springs, coilovers)
