I have my opinions, but what are yours?
Power appears to decouple from wheels for a second, then reengages suddenly with a bang. Happens maybe three times in 2 or 3 weeks, at parking lot speeds, while turning (backing out of driveway, for instance).
Intermittent but serious sounding pops/binding from the front end while turning. Usually when backing, but also when going forward. Perfectly silent most of the time, then all of a sudden it will do it again. No symptoms whatsoever at speed. No howls, whines or grinding in general.
CV joint boots are intact. No play in joints when twisted or pulled by hand. No outward/visible signs of any distress in the trans/axels/hubs.
I think it popped out of reverse once a week or so ago ... seemed ominous at the time, but might have just been "one of those things."
Most of the time everything is perfectly normal Bad behavior appears to always be at low speed, almost always related to turning, and often when in reverse, though certainly not always. At times the noises and action have been pretty scary.
Ideas? Opinions?
