But just a little excessive current from motor drag and there's cooking involved. If we were all really serious about pre-emptive actions fusing each leg off of the resistor taps would protect the little critter. And tell us if the motor was starting to go. Course looking at the 150K miles / 240K km on the car is a good hint. The fan motor is starting to die from the moment it first runs. Brushed motors with cheap bearings have just so many hours of running in them. Should be a factory option: Do you want the good electric motors, Sir? To keep the costs down for the owner who sells it at 4 yrs old they never see upkeep costs like Serious Saabers.
