This may seem dumb and unrelated, but it's worth a simple looksee (it's FREE) and was my problem as I explained to Eric who's bailing me out on a separate issue (thanks again).
Especially if you've had radiator work done lately, check the hoses to and from your condenser (between your bumper and radiator). Hidden inside the air dam fascia are two hoses (3" in diameter for air, not coolant) that are WELL hidden. In my case, on popped off under acceleration soon after I bought my '93 CSET last October. Drove two weeks in base boost, doing the checks (bypass valve, wastegate, etc. all to no avail).
Someone told me to look ~diligently~ for the hose, and sure enough, it was off. Never would have guessed it and I could have easily overlooked it if I had not been determined to find that hose. I reconnected and operation was back to normal. I hope it's this easy for you.
Where to look: Facing the engine bay, hose was to the left of the radiator/condenser assy. Again, INSIDE the airdam fascia. About where the tow hook hole is, as I remember it. I could just about peek through there to see what I had done. Once I knew what I was looking for, but not before. Hose connects to the condenser I believe- since it's air not water/coolant. Remember, you'll likely never see it poking around through the air dam. Take it off- at least the bottom splash guard. I'm not sure if the hose on the opposite (right) side of the condenser would cause the same effect, but there is one on that side too. Mine happened to be the first on I looked for (on the left).
Good luck!
