John, it's as easy as taking a thin but strong flathead screwdriver or similar implement (I use a wall putty spreader) and gently insert into the crack between the ACC panel and the surrounding dash. Lever the ACC box out and keep pulling, then disconnect the beefy wiring harness. From there on it's as Lu described to replace the bulb. My "up" temp arrow button bulb is out too and I've been procrastinating for months to replace it.
BTW: this is pretty much the same procedure to replace the single bulb inside the center console panel for the windows/doorlock/sunroof switches. I'm not sure, but that bulb may even be the same as the ACC. However older 9Ks up to a certain MY had individual bulbs for each of the four window switches and I hear it's more more pain-in-ass to replace those.
