JB Weld cure on cold aluminum?

I need to build up a small section of the stub shaft bearing seat area on my transmission.. About half of the circumference was affected and tapers from 0 to about .015" at the deepest. Seems like a natural for JB weld but the problem is the transmission is in the car in an unheated garage and access to the area in question is difficult (about 3" deep in a 55mm hole). I've had problems with West System epoxy curing below 50F and wondered if JB Weld would acheive a good final cure over time. I could heat up the epoxy and the immediate area, but it is after all attached to a 3000lb hrat sink. My alternative solution would be to cold form something out of shim stock .

I tried to find JB Weld product info but didn't have much luck on low temp. Did find a funny testimonial, however, about some guys who bottomed out a rental Chevy Corsica, patched a gash in the oil pan with JB Weld, and drove the car from Dallas to Kansas City before turning it in.
