I carry one rated for oil/grease/electrical fires. One rated only for combustible materials (paper/wood) will not work in more serious applications. Kidde brand from Home Depot, about $25.
Here is what I did on my C900. Pull the flooring up from the trunk and drill two holes through the plywood, located and orientated to where you want it to stay, at a distance about the width of the extinguisher. Then thread a large nylon zip tie through one hole from above, go under the underside of the plywood and back up through the second hole. Reinstall the floor and place the extinguisher between the zip tie parts and make the connection tight enough so the extinguisher can slide out when needed but not roll around the trunk. You want a zip tie from an air conditioning duct supplier, about 24 to 30 inches long, Depot sells them like 5 to a pack for $5.
Then once a year, buy a new extinguisher so the one in your car is always less than a year old. Give the old extinguisher to your kids and have them practice using it on a small fire so they get the emergency training. They will not be as likely to panic in an emergency if they remember skills to deal with a fire.
