The 'Blue' (DI, DI/APC and Trionic prior to v 7) and 'Green' DI cassettes (trionic 7) are no different than their respective Red and Black incarnations. The Blue & Green ones were created as a required special tool for dealers.
Typical troubleshooting can include 'replace with known good unit and retest'. The blue & Green ones were created so the shop didn't have to pull a $400 retail unit off the stock shelf just to see if a car is good or not.
They are painted these other colors so the tech can tell at a glance that his 'tool' s still installed in the car, and the notches were cut so that it could not be repainted and sold as a new, $400 unit.
If you're looking for one cheap, watch eBay. They come on at anywhere from $25 on up.
