The fan can be run continously by jumpering contacts 30 and 87 on the low or high fan relay. Remove the relay and jumper in the relay panel. Directly jumpering the high fan relay may blow the fan fuse due to high starting current in high fan. You might try a 40 amp fuse or auto reseting circuit breaker in place of the fuse. Check out DelCity or Waytek for these parts. You could evan rig up a switch in the car to bypass the relay.
Check JCWitney for trany temp gauges and senders. I would be tempted to find a digital indicator with sender that will read > 250 degrees and fasten the sender to the oil cooler hot side line. I have a thermocouple display that cost $100 that may be an over kill. Insulate the sender so it is not readily affected by the surrounding air. Run for a while without the trailer to see where your temperature monitor normally runs. If the temp goes over 250 degrees its time to think about stopping to cool things off.
I would not worry to much about the tranny except for the heat. Ease off the trottle to force shifts at lower throttle settings. Let us know how it goes.
