Temperature vs. what feels cool Posted by Ari [Email] (#2847) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ari) on Mon, 16 Jun 2003 10:22:38 In Reply to: 95 9000Aero....insufficient cabin heat??, Rush Fan, Sun, 15 Jun 2003 08:55:14 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The problem with the ACC is that it regulates cabin temperature. That's nice, but what your skin feels is a different matter.
For example, 70 degrees feels warm in winter; it feels cool in summer. Go figure. Blow 70 degree air on your skin, and it feels cool.
So, what does this have to do? The ACC regulates air temp. You set 70 degrees, but to warm up the cabin, the ACC is blowing 75 or 80 degree air - no other way to warm up the cabin. The cabin air temperature increases until the ACC says, 'warm enough', and then it dials back the temperature. But the vents are still blowing air. Even if you've set the temp to 70 degrees, you're blowing 70 degree air onto your skin. That feels cool.
I've noticed this with other cars. I've even gone as far as sticking a thermometer on the dash face - sure enough, it goes up to the setting and stays there. But after warm up, it invariably blows cool.
About all I can recommend is to set the temp higher, or direct the vents so that they don't blow on you directly.
Good luck!
