Took a day off for it's my daughter's high school graduation. Because of the large graduating class (over 700), the ceremony was held 30 miles away in an arena in Trenton. Half way there in the 94cs turbo in the rain, I noticed the rear windshield wiper was struggling as it swept. At the same time the battery light came on. This can't be good. Stopped the car. Opened the hood. Found out the serpentine belt I installed a month ago was shredded again. So I called my sister to drop us off at the arena. Meanwhile I drove the car to a nearby parking lot so I may take care of it later.

After the ceremony I went to Sobstory to pick up a new belt and a tensioner. I suspect the tensioner needs to be replaced also. I am going away again early next week on business. I'd like to fix the car before I leave.

My question is, what could have caused the belt to go bad in just one month?
