Just to give those who are also suffering from "the shakes" at idle: replace those motor mounts! What a difference--the car is as smooth as glass now.

My vertical upper was completely shot, and the dogbone (horizontal upper) was getting there as well since it now had to take the brunt of the work. I replaced both uppers, both bottoms, and the tranny mount. Was actually a simple job. Unfortunately, I have minimal time to do what I love best (working on my car), and ran into a few glitches, so the car sat in my garage on jackstands for over a week. First, the vertical mount cracked while the machine shop was pressing in the new bushing, so I had to wait until they fixed it. Then, the orientation of the new bushing in the dogbone was installed incorrectly, so I had to have that re-done. Finally, the design of the new tranny bushing was different from the old one, so I had to take a trip to the dealer to see if this was okay (which it was--updated version). I decided to go with all oem rubber since I have an auto, and they are extremely sensitive to the use of poly.

All in all, would have been a one-day job if everything went smoothly (and if my little ones stopped running out of the garage with my tools). I definitely would recommend this job if the vibrations are driving you crazy!!! It will feel like a brand-new car!

BTW: thanks to all for the tips when I posted on my dilemmas during this process. And a BIG thank you to Quasi's site for the detailed instructions--couldn't have done it without referring to his write-up.
