My 96 9000CS runs great 10 months out of the year, but in hot weather (95+) it goes all to hell. It runs okay 'till hot, then will get a very rough idle, very poor performance, emits black smoke and in extreme cases (under hard hill pulling in the heat) it will completely stall out, requiring a 10 or 20 minute cool down. I've replaced the main computer, fuel pump, temp sensor and more. My Saab mechanic is stumped. The only code that shows up is for a rich mixture (duh!). Also, there is a pronounced fuel (no... more like alcohol) smell when the car gets that hot, though I can't isolate the source of the smell. It's not coming from under the hood (including wheel well areas), not from the fuel filler cap area, and even crawling under the rear of the car gives me no clue. Right after the car is parked after running in the heat, there is a bubbling sound from the fuel tank... it stops when the filler cap is loosened. I have no idea if the smell and related issues are related to the running problem.

This has been going on since I bought the car at 39k 3 years ago. I'm desperate for help... Is there a Saab guru out there that can give me any idea what's going on?
