Sounds more like a vacuum leak

Check your vacuum lines for a major crack/split at connections or for a hose that fell off. I've had the exact same symptoms you've had, once it was the hose that goes to the boost guage-fell off at the fire wall, the other was at the carbon canister in the right front fender. Look carefully and follow the lines closely.
DI failure is more likely to be felt under high RPM's and high boost. It will feel more like a stuttering type miss and will be noticeable. Spark plugs will make or break your DI, make sure you are using the proper NGK's and check gap every oil change and replace every 10,000 miles or so.
