Hi all,
Well, I just replaced the alternator on my 87 9k T. The trouble started a week ago when I got into the car on Monday to see 9 volts. After buying a new battery, then a voltage regulator and now finally a new alternator everything is back to normal.
The reason all this happened is because a few months ago when I had a shop replace the steering rack and the tranny.
Since the repair I've had to remove the tranny AGAIN because the new throw-out bearing went. (They told me that they bled the system by applying a bar to the throw out bearing and compressing the slave). And now I realize that the reason the alternator went is becuase they did not tighten ONE friggin power steering hose, causing a flood of fluid to seep into the alternator.
The lesson here that I got what I paid for, because these repairs were thru connection I paid only $300 for their work and I provided the parts. Now, I will do the work myself or pay someone that can give me a warrantee.
BTW I am selling AERO rims and NEW E-CODES is the Part Classifieds, to help pay for these repairs. This is the second time I am having to sell cool stuff that I wanted to use, in order to cover the cost of repairs.
