Greetings all,
I am the proud owner of a 93 CSE turbo automatic, blessed with TCS of course. Mostly I have no problems with the system, but thought perhaps some of you might have some anecdotal ideas on why I'm getting my particular occasional symptoms, which are:
Usually on highway entrance ramps, if I give the car just enough gas, I will wind up in limp home mode only AFTER reaching cruising speed. I accelerate up to speed, say 70 mph or so, and the car gives a bit of a stumble, then enters limp home mode. Seemingly this occurs if I've pressed the pedal more than halfway to the floor. Since I rarely if ever floor the car in the course of my driving, it's hard to say whether pedal position is always a precursor to limp home mode. Perhaps 50% of the time if I do floor the car to squirt past someone in local driving I will not get limp home mode; it's also not often that I'm obliged to give the car much gas in order to merge onto the highways.
The ISAT returns the "P0120 -- throttle position incorrect" code, and another intermittent code that seems to indicate the throttle pedal potentiometer. A Saab professional suggested I replace the red/white check valve, which I did, and the safety valve shows the proper resistances. All hoses are new, I do have the old style TB still.
Perhaps someone out there will have bells go off in his or her head as to how to solve this issue. Place index finger on end of nose, repeatedly clear throat, bark like dog?
This car's a bit of a beater and the problem is more annoying than worrisome, but I would sure like to be able to enjoy the monster power of this car in a carefree fashion. Suggestions welcome!
