My Canadian-spec '89 9000 has E-code headlights, but the owner's manual calls for a 9004 bulb for what I assume would be a North American-spec headlight. A manual I have for the '86 9000 calls for H4 bulbs, so it does look like E-spec was the early standard. I'm not sure then if even by 1989 if E-spec lenses were factory equipment or options for us in the Great White North.
