I feel odd writing tips that include the words: look at a Haynes, but it actually describes the process in a halfway decent manner. For me the job took a long time. Some tools I needed: A drain pan, Regular socket set, and when you get to the water line to the turbo a bunch of extensions will be VERY helpful (much easier than trying to get at it through the downpipe. The extensions will also help when it comes to the lowest bolt on the pump. Also you gotta have a good strong set of TORX drivers (I have a set for my ratchet).

The haynes says you can get the pulley off the pump while it's on the car still, I couldn't find the clearance so I waited until I had it off. When I pulled the pump the adaptor from pump into the engine block didn't come out of the block so I didn't replace those 0-rings, I tried to get the adaptor out but it was late and I was tired.

Once the pump is out I had to disassemble it and reuse 1/2 the housing. Not a bad job, I spent a long time trying to get the old gasket off. Cleaned it up with alcohol let it dry and then put a layer of gasket sealer on each half, then put in the new gasket and assembled it.

Things you might as well do too:
Fan switch
Hoses from pump to expansion tank and radiator
Replace the hose clamps
Drain the coolant from the block (to fully empty all coolant) I just drained the radiator and put in new coolant

Let me know if you want some more info via email
