Your ingnition switch is probably stuck in the "in" position, meaning it doesn't pop "out" when you remove the key. My '86 has the same problem. After I remove the key, I sometimes have to push (depress)the ignition switch with my thumb to trigger the release mechanisim and pop it back out. Otherwise, the ignition switch is still hot, and some of the subsystems will still have power (e.g. the door buzzer will go go off when you open the dirver's side door, despite there being no key in the ignition).
