clutch question

I have noticed a significant difference in low speed performance between my 1994 aero and my 1993 volvo 850. When going slowly (that is the only speed available here in Minneapolis due to traffic congestion and snow here at present) in first gear, the aero bucks like a bronco and wants to stall. The volvo does not exhibit this behavior. Both cars have 5 speed manual transmissions and work fine at other speeds. Of course, the aero is a whole lot better at high speeds. Is this a symptom of clutch failure? Any ideas?
