88 9000 Misses

Hi-
Ok guys heres the scoop, I have a 1988 9000 turbo. The car started running horrible after my brother hit a small deer on the right side of the vehicle. No major damage, just a dented hood. So...heres the problem, The car misses at idle and runs rich (it runs so rich that it contaminates the oil with gas if you drive it). It misses VERY badly right before its shifts into second gear. IT is almost an ignition type miss, like it needs wires or has a bad cap( there is no sign of arcing under the cap and the wires are new). So I was driving it one day and like a flip of a switch it starts running ok. The turbo has never worked since the accident, so since its running ok now I figured I would see why it hadnt been working. I found that the waste gate was disconnected, so I reconnected it......still no turbo put now it runs like crap.when the car ran fine the turbo was bypassed by the waste gate because it had become disconnected, in order to connected it again I had to turn the waste gate the other way to connected the linkage. why when the turbo is not bypassed does it run like crap....but not have boost either way? The turbo doesnt even make any noise.
I spun the turbo over with my fingers and its not seized, although I am used to them spinning over a little more smoothly this car has over 200k so I dismissed a tiny bit of unsmoothness to that. any ideas?
