PBR used to be called Axxis, and before that Repco, I believe. They all made both the Deluxe and Metalmaster pad. If you got it in a box, it would have said Deluxe or MM.
I had the same problem of not griping well cold with MM on my '95Aero. I pulled them at the end of winter and three thousand miles, and replaced with Deluxe. The problem went away.
After being challenged by Andrew, I mounted the same pads on my '95CSE. They work fine. A very slight change in cold grip, but you've got to be looking for it. The Aero felt like it was going to slide through the first few stop signs in the morning. I can't really explain the difference in performance between the two cars.
Have you bedded the pads in by taking the car up to 40, braking to 10-20, back up to 40, etc.? Need to do this for a couple or three miles to seat or bed the pads. May need more if rotors are badly groved.
