Thanks Martin and Peter. Both suggestions sound sensible. Last two weeks have been hectic and I hope to take the dash off again next week. The setup on my 9kt is a 3" wide x 1" high digital display just under the speedo that shows the current gear position, fuel consumption info and warnings for oil and radiator. It is this one that doesn't light up and the one I've been calling the EDU. There is also a 2.5 " wide x 3.5" high digital device that does "clock/trip/outside temp/speed alarm" high on the dash in the middle of the car. I'm hoping this is the SCC. The 'SCC' appears to work ok with lights that are bright. It seems to have a little (5mm) sensor lens bottom left on it which is I guess what Martin refers to. I'll try shorting it first before getting a second hand EDU.
