Recently I had the fun of hitting a large, hard dirt clod that came down a hill right in front of me. Although I attemepted to avoid it I hit it hard with the right front wheel. The damage was a bent wheel, sliced tire, bent front bushing, and bent control arm (I discovered the control arm was bent after having replaced the wheel and bushing only to find the wheel was still back to far). Now that I have everything replaced I took it out and found it is still pulling severly to the right, so much so that I have to keep the steering wheel turned 45 degrees to go straight!
When I got back home, only a short drive, I took the wheel off once more to do further inspection and found that the inner cv joint boot is all twisted and the grease is coming out. I cannot see any tears, but the grease is there nonetheless.
Now the question. Should I just pull apart the boot and re-grease it making sure everything is back in place or should I simply replace the joint and boot all together? It seems obvious to me the joint has come out of the inner cup and is pushing the wheel out I'm just not sure if it is damaged. I also don't want to take the time to go pulling it apart just to find I have to replace parts anyway.
Thanks in advance for any input.
