I use 92 ocatane in turbo 94 cse and 89 octane in 89 9000s (non-turbo), the turbo/apc's really need high octane fuel but I didn't notice a difference in the 89 so much probably because detonation is not so much an issue as with forced induction. The 89 I get about 33mpg on the highway with a/c removed, this changed to 30 when i got new tires. The 94 CSE gets about 28-30 on the highway but it's currently in pieces as I am replacing the head gasket. Both cars are 5spd and I imagine there are a whole heap of variables added with an auto. I would bet that fluid makes a big difference. I know I got up to 35mpg when I was using Redline in my 89 (before transmission problems, hehe).
