My '93 CSET needs a new heater core and upper motor mount(s). Dealer quoted $840 for to replace heater core and $458 for the motor mount(s). Scary prices, so I contactned an independent repair shop that my uncle has used for his Saabs for many years. He quoted $500 for the heater core, but wouldn't quote the motor mounts until he has looked at my car. Is this price more in the ballpark? How much is reasonable for the motor mounts? Should anything else be done at same time as these repairs?
Also, the antilock brakes light comes on intermittantly (once on it stays on, but usually goes out after restarting). Dealer said relay and possibly diodes probably need to be replaced at cost of $101 to replace relay and $199 for diodes. Ideas or suggestions? Could this be a problem with the speed sensor?
My '93 CSET has 121k miles and I know it had fuel pump and rotors done just before I bought it. Had 125k mile service/inspection done early and it came through fine (until now) other than rear brakes, both CV boots, and adjustment of kickdown cable/recalibration of TCS, all of which have been done.
Is there anything else that should be on my hit list while its being serviced (for hopefully the last time in a while)?
