NH-Aero,
So, I'd check you oil to see what it looks like. There might be water in the oil, leaving it 'creamy' looking. My car lost water for a while before I noticed white exhaust. . . and even then, it was only for short time after start-up. Try smelling the exhaust, it will smell sweet if there's coolant in it. (Don't smell too much, you could die!)
My car is a stick, so I'm not familiar with the ATF/Coolant combination. I would check it out soon, as a bad head gasket can lead to cracking a head, getting water in the cylinders which can damage valves and spark plugs, and contaminating the oil, causing poor recirculation.
In my case, I could actually see water in Cyl. no 1 when I removed the spark plug. The leaky head gasket was over-presurizing my coolant system, causing it to hiss after I turned the car off.
I did the head gasket myself, over a couple of weekends.
Hope you find the problem, and I hope it's simple (well, as simple as possible).
~Peter
