Well, not long after I completed the 2.3L swap into my 1990 9kT I managed to put her in the grave. I was driving home late Wed. / early Thurs. (about 1:00 am -- call it what you will) and something in the front end "malfunctioned". This is about all I can say about this event --examination of the tire marks shows a mysterious skid originating from the front left. This pulled the car toward the inside of the LH corner around which I was traveling. Anyhow, I tried to correct, but whatever failed prevented adequate control. The car slid off the road and about 1/2 way down an embankment. I was near my apartment complex, so I went to grab my roommate for assistance. In the 3-or-so minutes it took me to get him out of bed, the car erupted in flames. Apparently, when the car came to rest, some mulch and other debris was caught under the car near the exhaust (??).

Before the fire dept. arrived the front 1/2 of the car was reduced to pretty much nothing. BOO HOO!! I couldn't even investigate what caused the accident--there wasn't much left to look at. Pretty sure it wasn't tires, though, the Falken Azenis were only about a week old.

Well, the State Police arrived and verified that the accident was not caused by either alcohol or excessive speed and therefore charged me with nothing more than having bad luck.

Well, I'm going to be getting rid of everything that was salvaged pretty soon, so keep your eyes open. I've got stuff like extra wheels, SAS sway bars, trailer hitch, and parts of the engine/trans and the T28/28 turbo may still be good, I'll verify that soon.

Hope everyone else has better luck than I did!
