Fragile, aren't they?
You have a pretty big problem on your hands. I think replacing the hose from the engine requires dropping the fuel tank.
Here's what I did;
The broken remains of the valve you have pops apart pretty easily, no glue or anything. Then I got a new 'to the engine' valve for about $8. This one doesn't come apart because it's glued.
I cut it with a hacksaw in the right spot and used an exacto knife to pick away the glued innards. Eventually I got the new piece to pop on the old piece, remembering to put the check valve ball inside.
You'd think you're home free at that point, but not quite. The new piece of the check valve is a really tight fit in the fuel line. I used a brake line flare tool to hold the line and work the fitting into the fuel line, 1/4 inch at a time.
This was a lot of work and a lot of hassle. Worked good when it was done though. All in all I should have paid the $50 for the fuel line and dropped the tank.
Good Luck
