I'm pretty sure you can remove it by itself.... I agree; they are bad in little fender benders. I was in one a few weeks ago and it shattered...with no other damage...next day, it was lyin on the ground. So I'm lookin for one, too. It is spring loaded at the sides but I don't know how to remove it...I'll see if its in my Haynes.
