that disappears with a fresh tank of gas. Typical cause of your check engine light is the O2 sensor being contaminated. The computer on your car should store the fault code even after the light goes off. Saab technicians should be able to retreive it and tell you if one of your sensors or something else has failed. If it has happened more than a couple time, I would have it checked. Is your fuel consumption increasing?
I have never heard of cleaning an O2 sensor with a torch, but it may work. IMHO if you go through the trouble of pulling the thing out, replace it. It isn't a cheap part, but on my 91 feeding the wire around the engine was a real PITA. I have always been told that if these get contaminated, they are done for. That is why the sensor comes with a plastic cap on the tip that you remove just prior to installation, and the installation instructions say to take great care when handling the sensor to prevent contamination.
