I haven't pulled one in a Saab, but my guess is the same as George's, around 400 lbs--they are pretty beefy units and since you pull it with all the accessories and it has to be up there. I seem to remember something about the 8-valve engine in my C900 weighing about 385 w/out the trans.

Something to note is that while the Haynes manual doesn't give a weight for the engine it does say, "The engine can be removed from the car only as a complete unit with the transmission."
Not having done the job, I don't know if this is totally accurate, but factor it into which ever hoist you rent/acquire/use. My guess is the trans is another 200 pounds or so. (?)
