I went back at it tonight and removed the tensioner, compressed it in a vice and wrapped it with duct tape so it wouldn't expand. I got it back in and was able to contract it enough to get my homemade tool back in. Finished the job and put eveything back together. Just peeled the tape off. I lost a little oil, but eveything seems to be working. I think it wasn't lined up correctly when I was cranking on it with my breaker bar. How do you install a new tensioner, doesn't it just want to expand too?
