The short answer is no. The equalizer worked at a pre-amp level with the radio. There is DIN plug (8 pins or 13, I can't remember) that takes low level inputs from the radio and feeds it back at the same low level to the radio. If you look at the plug from the radio, it has a shorting plug attached to the end of the cable that can be plugged into the end of the DIN cable to pass the signal through when the equalizer is not installed.
I suppose you could try using the preamp outputs from the CD player and passing them into the equalizer (that is if the levels are compatable), but then you would need a separate amplifier, because there is no way to get the signal back into the head unit.
Most people put a blank cubby from a 9000S in the equalizer slot.
