Timing Chain Tensioner Length Limit? Posted by JustinHiFi [Email] (#829) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JustinHiFi) on Mon, 7 Jun 2004 18:46:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Just checked the extended length of the tensioner in my '91 9kT (pulled the spring before removal) to find it is out 16mm from the edge of the base to the tip. 13mm ish if you do not count the guide platform at the end of the tensioner.
Car has 294k on it.
Reason I pulled it was I have chain noise at the valve cover, figured cover pad but wanted to check this first. Now it looks like it is time for a chain and probably sprokets and guides as well.
What is the limits on the tensioner length, indicating chain and guide wear?
Thanks,
JustinHiFi
