i have a 1990 9000 S 2.3 non turbo with a manual transmission, it seems to be smother shifting than my 1997 9000 CSE 2.3 Turbo with a manual transmission, i was thinking about pulling the trany off the non turbo, rebuilding it, then putting it on the Turbo, i think it would make the turbo quicker because of the lower gear rations, and im pretty sure the transmission from the non turbo has been replaced withing the last 5 years. would there be a problem with this switch, and would this make the car quicker? Also, is it possible to pull the tranny from the bottom of the car, or do i have to lift the engine?
Im doing this because the Turbo's transmission needs some new bushings or something, i believe, because the stick moves to the right and left about an inch or two when it is in gear, also, sometimes when i get to around 90mph and try to shift to 5th, i cant get it in, and i cant get it back into any gear from there, i have to wait till im back down to 50 or 60 to get it back into gear, this doesnt happen all the time, just a few times.
