Just came across an article in the local (Thai) car magazine explaining how to restore the old metalic paint work using areosol spray clear lacquer. (Spelling?) However, I have not yet try it method.
Here it is:-
They suggested that you should try it on the small area first
First wash the, want to be restore, area with detergent or washing powder to get rid of the oily and/or dirty patches.
Then rub the area with scotch brite to further clean the surface and get beter adhersion.
Masked the ajacent area with old newspapers and masking tape.
Spray the clear acryic or lacquer.
Progress to larger area once you master the spraying technique.
That's all.
